Corsair CMPSU-1000HX 1000-Watt HX Professional Series 80 Plus Certified Power Supply compatible with Core i7 and Core i5 Buy Now

As near as I can tell, a power supply either works or doesn't. Obviously, the PSU you select needs to support the devices you connect to it and you have to do some research to ensure you're getting an adequate unit for your needs. That said, 1000W is sufficient for most desktop applications.

My setup isn't outrageous but it's not low profile either: Intel i7 950, Asus P6X58D Premium motherboard, 12GB Corsair 1333 RAM, XFX Radeon HD5970 (two GPUs), Pioneer Blu Ray burner, Noctua CPU cooler, two Western Digital SSDs, two Western Digital Caviar Black HDDs, and assorted HDD (six) and case (two) fans. This unit hasn't winced at any of these demands and I suspect I'm nowhere near taxing it. The installation is straightforward and the quality (despite Chinese manufacture) seems to be of high quality. Although I don't know what a typical PSU warranty is, the five year warranty for this unit seems to be fairly generous.Get more detail about Corsair CMPSU-1000HX 1000-Watt HX Professional Series 80 Plus Certified Power Supply compatible with Core i7 and Core i5.
